This Is NOT Democracy
Okay. All those who are currently making the claim that Iraq is now a free and democratic country and is no longer on our Axis of evil: A little word with you, please.
Try - PLEASE just try - to step out of your little box and think about this:
Just suppose that you turned on the news and there were reports blaring about four bombings in a major U.S. city. Doesn't matter which city - pick any. Three of those bombings were "suiciders" as Bush would call them. 29 Americans are killed. Scores more injured.
What would happen? A major lockdown of all operations in not just that city, but across America? Probably. Wall-to-wall news coverage? Absolutely. All flights grounded and all transportation venues blocked? You bet. Terror Alert set to Red? In a heartbeat.
America would be under seige. All commerce and life would grind to a halt. We would be in total chaos.
Snap out of it. This is exactly what happened today in Baghdad. And the crackheads who lead this country still insist that life is now a paradise for the Iraqis. There's something horribly wrong with our definition of "freedom."
Four explosions rock Baghdad on eve of Shiite holiday
Four bombings -- including three from suicide attackers -- struck Baghdad today as flocks of the religious faithful prepared for a holy holiday, killing at least 29 people and injuring scores of others.
The deaths, creating the largest loss of life since the national elections last month, escalated fears that Sunni Muslim insurgents increasingly were targeting the Shiite community, particularly as it was preparing for an important holiday. The divide between Sunnis and Shiite Arabs, who make up about 60% of Iraq's population, has grown more distinct since the Jan. 30 election won by Shiite blocs.
The bombings began today in southern Baghdad near the Khadimain mosque, where authorities counted 15 deaths and at least 20 injured.
Then, a suicide bomber caused another blast came near the Al Bayaa mosque in western Baghdad. The Associated Press quoted officials at Yarmuk hospital saying at least 10 people were brought there from the explosion.
A third explosion occurred when another suicide bomber struck worshippers in a heavily Shiite district in northwest Baghdad. Authorities said two people were killed and five others were injured.
Another suicide bomber detonated himself in a Sunni neighborhood at a police checkpoint.

Yea but compared to all the bombings when Saddam was in power.....Uh well ....All the bombings that Saddam thought about along with the WMD he thought about it is really a much better place...If you think about it.

And when you consider this is pretty much a normal day in Iraq, it's much, much worse.
I enjoyed Rumsfeld's Senate testimony---he mentioned there that the insurgency is only able to mount 50 to 60 attacks per day.
Incredible.

to Buzzwindrip - "...all the bombings when Saddam was in power" were those caused by bombs dropped from American and British planes - we were the only ones bombing in Iraq - daily for over 10 years....wake up and try reality....polls show that over 40% of Iraqis want Saddam back because they felt safer when he was in power....

The only difference between Sadaam and Bush is that Sadaam has a better mustache...

Hey, "Buzz", why don't you ask the Iraqis if it's a "much better place"-(make sure you tell them to think about it). Wake up and smell the the occupation- oh, and by the way- what bombings? Which WMD's?
