Why We Sit Here Sputtering and Flailing Our Arms
This is crazy on so many levels. First, the story itself. Secondly, how do we square this with Iraq's new democracy by putting him in a freakin' cage? And thirdly, if this IS bullshit, why would The Sun, a Murdoch mouthpiece, want to spread a story about caging a defendant like an animal? What good does this do for Bush?
And why is this story only being reported in Australian news outlets?
(sputter...flail...) HUH!?!
Saddam to face trial 'in cage'
FALLEN Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein would be tried in one of his palaces sitting inside a top security Hannibal Lecter-style cage, The Sun newspaper said today.
It said the white reinforced metal cage would be similar to the one used to control the character played by Anthony Hopkins in the Silence of the Lambs movie of 1991.
Quoting an unidentified source, Britain's top-selling tabloid said that during the trial – to be held possibly next year – Saddam would be housed in an underground cell and would travel to and from the courtroom cage using a lift.
Saddam is facing charges of war crimes and genocide and will be tried before Iraqi judges in the palace inside Baghdad's Green Zone.
The courtroom was now being fitted out, The Sun said.

"Why would The Sun, a Murdoch mouthpiece, want to spread a story about caging a defendant like an animal? What good does this do for Bush?"
Because it spreads the story that Saddam has to be caged like a wild animal. Therefore, invading Iraq was justified.
I'm surprised you had to ask. The answer to every question about this somehow includes the idea: Therefore, invading Iraq was justified.

Yeah. He needs also to be shackled inside the cage.
After all, he might launch a WMD. A spit ball.
