Rummy to Saddam: Let's Make a Deal!

Oh, brother. I believe anything these people try to pull off behind our backs. Why not this?

Rumsfeld to Free Saddam If He Stops Insurgence

There are claims that US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld during his last visit to Iraq met with ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

According to a news article based on Iraqi Baath sources in Jordan published in the London based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, Rumsfeld met with Saddam in his cell in Bagdat (Baghdad) and the US Secretary of Defense asked Saddam to end the insurgence. The paper claims that Rumsfeld asked him on a television broadcast to make a call for insurgents to end the resistence against US and multi-national forces as well as the Iraqi security forces.

Rumsfeld in return offered a release and exile of the administrators of the overthrown Iraqi regime or those who are willing to be involved in the government after negotiations.

Baath sources in Jordan have reported that Saddam refused the offer.

In other frightening Rumsfeld News...

Rumsfeld demands cash for 'bunker-busting' nuke

US defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld yesterday asked Congress to agree $8.5m of funding for research into a ground-penetrating nuclear weapon which would address what Rumsfeld considers the growing problem of potential enemies burying vital installations deep underground. Last November, Congress pulled the plug on $27m earmarked for a study into the "Robust Nuclear Earth Penetrator", Reuters reports.

Rumsfeld was at pains to point out that Pentagon wants the cash purely for research - not to build an actual weapon. He said: "The only thing we have is very large, very dirty, big nuclear weapons," adding: "It seems to me studying it [the RNEP] makes all the sense in the world."

Just research, and not to build it? Whoops. The Bullshitometer just lit red. Just as it did yesterday, when Rumsfeld started this trifecta o'fun.

LINK - "Winning or losing is not the issue for 'we,' in my view, in the traditional conventional context of using the word winning and losing and of war," Rumsfeld said Tuesday at a news conference. "The people that are going to defeat that insurgency are going to be the Iraqis."

That's right. We fucked up your country. Now YOU clean it up. Hey Rummy - if you're really into making deals, here's one for ya: If the Iraqis clean up your mess thmeselves, can they have their country back? WITHOUT you?

Do you really think Saddam has any control on the insurgency?

I can believe a lot of things about Rumsfeld, but this on releasing Saddam if he stopped the insurgency I can't see. That would be a big Failure on the Bush Administration no matter how you tried to spin it. I just read he "borrowed" funds from the budget to pay the troops to pay for armour. Now he is claiming Congress won't support the troops by giving enough money to pay their salaries because there is not enough left in the budget. I really detest this sick administration.

Sadam said he'd do it, if he could have his brother back.

Wow! It's OK for Rummy to define "we"; it's not OK for Clinton to define "is". Pronouns are good; verbs are bad.

"Rumsfeld was at pains to point out that Pentagon wants the cash purely for research - not to build an actual weapon."

Rumsfeld later went on to explain that he only reads Playboy for the articles.

It's not out of the question that Saddam comes back into power.

Sounds crazy doesn't it?

Have you looked around lately?
