Tim McGraw and Faith Hill: "It's Bullshit"
The country music supercouple have seen enough.
Hopefully, they're prepared for the Dixie Chicks treatment...although y'know - I'm not so sure they'll be getting it from music fans anymore. Just from the reality-challenged pundits.
Faith Hill and Tim McGraw -- two stars who usually stay out of politics -- blasted the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort, with Hill calling the slow progress in Louisiana and Mississippi "embarrassing" and "humiliating."
The country music artists -- who are natives of the storm ravaged states -- were at times close to tears, and clearly angry when the subject of Katrina came up during a news conference today. They had met with reporters in Nashville to promote their upcoming Soul2Soul II Tour, but when asked about the hurricane cleanup, the stars pulled no punches.
McGraw specifically criticized President Bush. "There's no reason why someone can't go down there who's supposed to be the leader of the free world … and say, 'I'm giving you a job to do and I'm not leaving here until it's done. And you're held accountable, and you're held accountable, and you're held accountable.
Hill, who grew up in Jackson, Miss., echoed those sentiments. So overwhelmed, she uncharacteristically unleashed an epithet, calling the situation, "Bull- - - -"
"It is a huge, huge problem and it's embarrassing," she said.
"I fear for our country if we can't handle our people [during] a natural disaster."
Listen to the audio here (Sadly, ABC News didn't provide the "bullshit" remark):

Well, there goes the South.
Anymore of this kind of shit and my relatives in LA and MS will be staying home on election day.

Yeah, until Karl Rove brings up something like 'gay marriage' or 'gay dog breeding' or maybe the insolent queers starting their own national church! Then, all your relatives will instantly forget what happened during Katrina, and give the GOP fascists another term in office so they can continue this long, devastaing screw of the country!

The word their looking for but not saying is...incompetence!!!
Posted by: Hawk | Mar 09, 2006 at 09:24 AM
In fact, "Gross Incompetence" should be the theme for all Gulf Coast musicians, who are left!
Nice of them to visit for their tour though, how about suspending that and oh, I don't know, giving a year of service and money to your hometown neighbors, can ya afford it?, You too Brittany!

Bush is very funny!

Um...but the two of you helped the little bastard get elected in the first place, and you handed him a second term.
I appreciate the sentiments, but it's just damned unfortunate that an entire U.S. city had to be wiped out and thousands of people had to lose their lives in order for them to realize that they hitched their wagon to an incompetent, hateful, ignorant, racist star.

Seriously, the daily, non-stop Bushbashing is starting to drive me crazy. Bush is by far the worst President in my lifetime but all we can do is sit here and wait until his term is over. You don't really think he's done screwing up, do you? He will continue to piss me off until the day he leaves office and I guess I'm getting tired of everyone talking about it because there's nothing we can do about it but complain, complain, complain. Life here is OK until his name is mentioned and I keep thinking about the poeple that voted for him and the people that are still behind him. Bushbashing is just a headache now. It's done, he's an idiot so we suffer until he's gone. Depressing, I know...

naive fools. mr. bush is a puppet. any exertion on his part of any real leadership would be met with swift removal from office. his handlers are the real power behind the throne. karl rove, and the vice president.

Do we know that Tim and Faith ever supported Bush? I recently heard Tim McGraw was thinking about running for the Dem nomination for Govenor of Tenn. The country music stars are kind of funny. Being a diehard Democrat, I am firmly on the side of most of Hollywood. I lost any enjoyment for country music when Clint Black and Brooks and Dunn made such disgusting fools of themselves suppporting Bush. I admit that I lumped all of them in that boat. The Dixie Chicks were "swift boated" by their own. It's too bad that more of them didn'ta come forward long before this.

Bush knows the score. He listens to all his homeys and they decide which decision will net them bugger profits in ________ (fill in the blank). A puppet, sure, he's also the MC, don't forget that. Complain and whine all you want, we're all stuck with his idiocy until his term is up.
Posted by: Juice | Mar 09, 2006 at 10:25 AM
This was a news story. Hoff posted it and people are commenting on it. No one is "whining and complaining" about anything. Pull your head out of your ass, Juice.
Or, maybe you ought to head over to Television Without Pity and complain about all the posts regarding TV shows, or go to the ESPN website and whine to them about their focus on sports . . .

Juice
I could really care less if you are tired of the Bush-bashing... Because you know what?
If you VOTE.. you have the right to BITCH! and that is what I am gonna do.
And to the Annoymous poster who called Bush a Puppet.. you are correct, however...
You forgot one major player. Daddy Bush. He is the leader of the largest mafia this country has ever known. Dubya, also known as "Shrub" (littleBush) is the puppet for his daddy and Jeb will more than likely follow in his brother's footsteps.

OK so Bush goes in 2009, thank God, but if a repug is elected we get more of the same. The thought of McCain is chilling. We've gotta fix the election apparatus thing and get back in control.
Posted by: rhoda | Mar 09, 2006 at 11:21 AM
MAH: maybe I should have done my homework before I made that statement. I do know that they took no steps to sway their fans away from Bush.
As for Juice, he/she has declared that the Bush Bashing must cease, so further discourse must cease.
*eye roll* Tootsie Roll, as long as Brother of DVV is being put in harm's way by a military deserter, I will bash the little troll whenever, wherever, and however I want, and I don't expect to hear JACK SHIT about it from sheeple like yourself.
You don't like it? Don't read it.

Sounds as though some posters believe that McGraw and Hill supported Bush in the past. If you've read any interviews with Tim McGraw, he's always said that Bill Clinton is the greatest president the country has ever had. I really doubt that they were ever Bush supporters. And for the poster who suggests that they cancel their tour to help out in the relief effort: they were among the first to take truckloads of supplies to Katrina victims and have continued to use their celebrity to bring attention to the sorry federal response.

Kali, Kali, english is read from left to right. to the others, I know you CAN bitch and complain but does it solve anything except a selfish need? Nice liberal, you should be embarrassed.

DVV is a her. And it's "accept," not "except."
