He doesn't. He won't be. But a whole lot of folks are going to feel a little uneasy when they try to defend why they listen to the dickhead. His uneducated and mean-spirited nonsense has boiled over into the MSM. Good.
Limbaugh mocks Michael J. Fox political ad
Conservative talk show host accuses actor of faking Parkinson's diseasePossibly worse than making fun of someone's disability is saying that it's imaginary. That is not to mock someone's body, but to challenge a person's guts, integrity, sanity.
To Rush Limbaugh on Monday, Michael J. Fox looked like a faker. The actor, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, has done a series of political ads supporting candidates who favor stem cell research, including Maryland Democrat Ben Cardin, who is running against Republican Michael Steele for the Senate seat being vacated by Paul Sarbanes.
"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."
Limbaugh, whose syndicated radio program has a weekly audience of about 10 million, was reacting to Fox's appearance in another one of the spots, for Missouri Democrat Claire McCaskill, running against Republican Sen. James M. Talent.
Later Monday, still on the air, Limbaugh would apologize, but reaction to his statements from Parkinson's experts and Fox's supporters was swift and angry."It's a shameless statement," John Rogers said yesterday. Rogers, Fox's political adviser, who also serves on the board of the Parkinson's Action Network, added: "It's insulting. It's appallingly sad, at best."
"Anyone who knows the disease well would regard his movement as classic severe Parkinson's disease," said Elaine Richman, a neuroscientist in Baltimore who co-wrote "Parkinson's Disease and the Family." "Any other interpretation is misinformed."
Then Limbaugh pivoted to a different critique: "Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician."Limbaugh's shock at Fox's appearance is a measure of the disease's devastation, advocates say. Contrary to the charge that Fox might not take his medicine to enhance his symptoms, the medicine produces some of the uncontrolled body movements.
I just have to show my disgust for Pumpkinhead's assertion that Fox is "allowing his illness to be exploited," mostly because he's "shilling for a Democratic politician." I'd like for Limbaugh to name the person who held the gun to Fox's head.
Remember Mary Fisher's speech at the 1992 GOP Convention? It was a heartfelt message from an HIV victim and AIDS activist, imploring her party to recognize the disease.
Limbaugh's disgusting comments would be the equivalent to someone on our side showing contempt for Fisher because she was being used to exploit her illness to shill for the Republicans. And I'd be the first to rise up against such an attack.
Doubtful we're going to hear a scintilla of uneasiness from the right on Limbaugh's words. Sadly, that's exactly what we expect.

I have Parkinson's, and let me assure the Windbag that you don't have to be off your meds to shake and sway. Any sort of stress, or lack of proper sleep, or the act of pushing yourself beyond physical limits, all help ignite the herky jerky's. Plus, the efficacy of the meds is diminished the longer you take them, and Fox has had PD for quite a while. He also has quite a nasty case of the disease. While I am not sure who Rush's sponsors are, I'd bet on a couple of the pharmeceutical companies that Rush has single-handedly supported the last 10 years or so. I think that this situation is much like the one described by Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson wrote that if forced to choose between a government without a free press and a free press without a government, he would choose the latter. If I had to choose between a shaky brain and an unshaky body and a shaky body with a clear mind, I would choose the latter.
Rush exemplifies the simple-minded invidiousness of the Rebubbakins. Look at the wealth that people like he and Ann Coulter have amassed and they are still nasty ungrateful and so insecure that they have to pick on those that they perceive as vulnerable. That doesn't say much for them does it?

My Mother, Wife and I cared for my Grandmother, who was afflicted with Parkinson's disease, for years. Why? Because they knew what Limbaugh's show was about before the Michael J. Fox outrage and still choose to sponsor the
hate-spewing political trashcan.

Boycotts are effective but they have to hurt the sponsors. These companies advertise on Rush because his listener base is loyal. They won't back down from what the Fat Pusbag says, in fact, they hold tighter when he's at his ugliest.
These bottom feeders will stay attached to the Pusbag through thick and thin. I think everyone here knows a few of them. They're all over the place like roaches.

If your going to boycott sponsors to make a point, don't go for the shotgun effect and try to hurt all of them. Pick the biggest. They are usually more concerned about staying on top. Settle on one and then hammer them in the media with letters to your local editor's page. Start an email, snail mail campaign to let the company of choice know. dedicate yourself to send at least ten people you know a day an invitation to join the boycott and why. Make sure to ask them to expasnd the cause with their contacts. Before you know it, it will make it into the MSM and really pick up steam. Make sure you let the company of choice know that this won't stop even if the Dems win the elections and take back both houses of Congress. Let them know that this is a thing of deep convictions for you. It took Ceasar Chavez years before the California grape boycott became effective. When Soccer Moms started getting arrested in Chicago for boycotting CA grapes, they caved in big time and now the union is there. Someone needs to create a web site devoted to this cause. Scumbags like Limbaugh have to be taken down or they see it as a weakness of public apathy and are emboldened to go farther

I am a nurse and have taken care of patients with PD and it is so sad how they struggle to swallow a pill or drink water or carry out any functions. Even the ones on medication have the jerking movements for the disease continues to get worse. MF was not ACTING. Bless his heart---who would want to pretend to have symptoms like PD. Shame on Rush and his fat foul mouth. I have an intelligent friend that listens to him and I just cannot understand it. Rush is a poor excuse for a human being but he is hurting himself more than all the people he talks about. Auto Zone responded that they ARE NOT a sponsor of the Rush Limbaugh and do not want to be! They asked that if you hear an Auto Zone ad during his show that you email them with the city and station where you heard it so they may contact that station!

In case you were unaware, every time Rush is in the news for some supposedly outlandish comment, he receives a ratings spike. His sales team then uses those inflated numbers to get, not only more advertisers and advertising dollars, but to entice more station owners in more markets to pick up Rush's programming. The end result is more advertisers paying bigger bucks in more markets with even more listeners. If you were smart, you'd ignore him entirely.

I never said anything about anybody being dumb. Some people don't understand how radio works. Even if you got 1000 people to stop supporting Rush's advertisers, you would still have 10-20 million (depending on which estimates you believe) people per week who potentialy will buy from Rush's advertisers. Advertisers know this. They could care less what Rush says on his show. Your Lumber Liquidators response is a perfect example. They knew who Rush was before they covered the floors of his studio FOR FREE and then chose to pay millions a year in advertising fees to Rush's network. And they'll keep paying millions as long as they can. I'm guessing Lumber Liquidators receives at least a 200% return on their money.
The point I was trying make was:
1) The more coverage Rush gets from MSM, Blogs (like this one), etc... the better his ratings will be.
2) Higher ratings = more money from advertising revenue AND more leverage his network has to bring in more stations in more markets.
3) More stations means more listeners.
4) More listeners means higher ratings
4) Higher ratings = ....

Many of the posters here are like bagfuls of hate. I read swearing, name calling, threats and wishes of bodily harm... Then, I see the poster who writes that he listened to that show and that Rush was dispelling the belief that stem cells could cure certain diseases, like MJ Fox's. I didn't hear the show nor was I aware of the comment made by Rush, but I want to listen to a tape of that comment before I have any feelings about what this page SAYS was said. Reading these posts had made me realize that many people react and spout off and say as mean and hateful things out of anger and I have never understood why it is "okay for some, but not others". If you don't like it, then don't do it too. What I get out of all this is that none of us are above what we think is "so wrong", and also that many of us are unwilling to forgive and move on. We sound as if we want to physically harm harm people for offending!!
