David Schuster Suspended
As much as I like Schuster, it was kind of a dumb thing to say. Chelsea's a full-grown adult with a mind of her own. Get used to it.
The sad part of this is, Fox News' "reporters" get away with saying much worse in their reporting - unlike the filling-in on a talkshow like Tucker as Schuster was doing - and they're encouraged to do more. Sometimes, having a scintilla of integrity and conscience sucks.

So Bilery is pimping their daughter even if SHE is willing...standard behavior for those who will DO ANYTHING TO GAIN MORE POWER....LIKE IT OR NOT!

Has anyone heard how long the suspension will last?
Posted by: Mad as Hell | Feb 08, 2008 at 04:04 PM
even Keith says it was totally offensive...good for him...

I have no sympathy for that kind of thing. To hell with Schuster and his unprofessional contribution to our stupid vulgar country.

This is a tempest over nothing. David's comment is only marginally offensive at best. It was a figure of speech. As a Democrat for my entire life I am dismayed by how many thought police are crawling out of the dark corners to point fingers at a decent young man who perhaps said something that was a little off color.
The Clinton response is way over the top and MSNBC should bend over and drop their pants at their threats.

As a Democrat for my entire life I applaud the suspension of David Schuster. Comments like that have no place in political debate, or in the news. This has nothing to do with "thought police". It has everything to do with some degree of professionalism. This was, bluntly, unprofessional as hell. He should have been canned.
Furthermore, the Clinton response is not over the top, at all. Again, I would be enraged if sexually-based "figures of speech" were directed at any of my family. This is no different than the racially charged tactics used to smear McCain. Both are equally unprofessional, and a poor excuse for political debate.

This is silly. Good for you David Schuster. She is pimping our her daughter. These people will do anything to get back in the whitehouse. Go OBAMA!
Posted by: ma cho shorts | Feb 09, 2008 at 08:12 AM
I just read that John McCain at an event a few years back tried to make a joke by saying, "Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."
Schuster's career is ruined now and McCain will be the Republican nominee.

That channel MSNBC has a serious agenda against women...

If someone had used the word "pimp" with Obama, all hell would break loose. Implying that Chelsea is a prostitute is unforgivable. Fire him! Go Hillary!
Posted by: m parker | Feb 09, 2008 at 01:00 PM
This is being reported totally out of context! Schuster did use terrible judgement in his choice of "words", but I'm personally insulted on a daily basis by Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough, by their attacks on anyone on the Democratic side. The incident began with the ladies on The View reporting, one by one, of getting a phone call from Chelsea Clinton. They imitated Chelse's tiny girl voice, which was insulting on it's own. All three of the ladies did the same imitation of Chelsea's call. They did say that Elisabeth did not get a call. The next day on The View, Elisabeth reports getting the call from Chelsea. This was reported all over the place, with youtubes of the ladies mocking Chelsea's voice. David Schuster was reporting the incident, and carelessly said that Bill and Hillary were pimping out their daughter. When Chelsea reached each of the ladies, she requested that they vote for her mother. I know there has to be a better word out there, but "pimping" just seemed to fit perfectly.
David Schuster has done so much for us, in holding the rethugs he interviews responsible for what they say. He doesn't let anyone get away with anything unchallenged. I stand David Schuster shoulder to shoulder with Kieth Olbermann, and I want him back on the job right now. I accept his appology completely, and trust he'll never let his guard down again.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Has anybody else noticed that David Shuster has a Wallace and Grommit mouth?
Posted by: legadillo | Feb 09, 2008 at 05:58 PM
Schuster's biggest mistake was not hiding behind the classic Fox News line, "People are saying..." ie: "People are saying the Clintons are pimping out their daughter..."

Pander: [archaic] Arrange for sexual partners for others.
Someone who procures customers for whores;
Yield (to); give satisfaction to;

----------------------------------------------------------
Pimp: A prostitute's customer
Yield (to); give satisfaction to;
panderer; A person who serves or caters to the vulgar passions or plans of others (especially in order to make money)
How many times did we hear the word "PANDER" from Ann Coulter and many other pundits as soon as the Clinton chatter started a long time ago?

I listened to what Schuster said and it probably wasn't a great choice of words, but it seems the Clintons were a little thin-skinned to take offense to the level they did. And when did the press start caving in to pressure. If Hillary had threatened not to debate, if I were NBC, I would have called her bluff. I would have said, "OK, we will just have Obama on the debates and ask him questions. We just won't air anything about you or your family again." And I think suspension on the basis of political pressure is a capitulation of a free press.

So,let me get this straight:
The Clinton camp gets bent out of shape over Shuster's comments regarding Chelsea(admittedly,a dumb comment to make and indefensible)-but she IS willing to participate in debates on Fox News,where-likely-the on-air "talent" has said much worse about not only Chelsea,but her and Bill,too.
Exactly what's wrong with this picture? Explain that to me!

Carl, E X A C T L Y !
We just spent 7 plus years with a president who punished anyone who dared piss him off. If they heard anything they didn't like on a news show, the show got a call from Bush/Cheney. Bush/Cheney threatened to with hold all interviews etc, if they were displeased with a news organization. Therefore, we just lived through a nightmare, where the press folded whenever threatened. The Country suffered! If Hillary believes that a simple remark, no matter how unpleasant to her ears, warrants having a newsman booted from his job, my head explodes! We just lived through Bush/Cheney doing this to Valerie Plame and Joe Wilson etc. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but suddenly, I don't want Hillary as president. I don't want another president ever who is capable of demanding someome's job, who simply pissed her off! I've always wanted Al Gore in 2008, but if that isn't possible, it's Barack Obama all the way. Hillary can take her delicate little daughter back to New York and keep her all protected from the mean ole outside world. I want a president who allows free speech, and lets the viewers of a television network do the yelling and screaming when they believe some newsman has gone overboard! I want David Shuster back!

David Shuster is great! He and Keith Olbermann are the best people on MSNBC. Shame, shame on NBC for suspending him. Does Billary have that much power? Let's see what kind of power she will have in August.

Schuster should have been suspended just as he was, then return to work, just as he has or will be doing shortly. He wasn't being vicious or attacking the Clintons, he was just using what he thought were some "off-color" words that was in-line with the program, whose host he was sitting in for. He was wrong on this one and he's paid the price, let's get over it!
However, the Clintons as usual go overboard in their reaction to anything that is said that might slightly impact their over-the-top egos and maniacal desire to gain infinite power and prestige. I am a longtime fan of the Clintons, but they have shown me this election year, that really will do anything to win--anything!
I'm not a fan of the Clintons anymore.

So much for free speech. Hillary lent herself 5 million and now she is having journalists suspended.
Buying the Presidency AND stifling freedom of the press.
Yeah, she's ready to go on day one. Ready to go the same way as George Bush.
I don't want another Bush in the White House! And that is exactly what we will get if Clinton is our candidate. If Obama has more delegates than her by the convention and she STILL gets the nomination, I will switch from Dem to Independent- not to mention I will NOT vote in November. And I have never NOT voted.
I agree with Shuster: it's AN OPINION!!!! The entire Clinton campaign IS pimping Chelsea. There. I said it. So suspend me.
Besides, she (Chelsea) is still an immature brat. Just because she straigtened her hair doesn't mean she straigtened out. In today's NYTimes, her comments to a person asking a question recently about her mother Hillary were rude and sarcastic. WHY WASN'T CHELSEA SUSPENDED???

David Schuster is an integral part of the MSNBC team...for a slip of the tongue, he is being punished for something Fox does every day and no recourse. David adds credibility to an already perfect news and political commentary staff.
Chris Matthews, Kieth Olberman, David Gregory and of course, David Schuster.
If you want to replace anyone, replace Tucker, not for his conservative views but for his straddling both sides of the fence. He is so firm non committal, he changes stance 50 times per show. I would like to see Schuster take that time slot
Thanks for the fresh air, David Schuster
