Kristol: Nader Will Beat McCain 75%-24%
That's not what he actually SAID, but based upon the four or five Democrats who still speak to him, he's predicting a McCain upset in this morning's bedtime story in the NY Times:
...a surprising number of Democrats with whom I’ve spoken expect a McCain victory. One told me he was struck by the current polls showing a dead-even race, suggesting both a surprising openness to McCain among Americans who disapprove of Bush and a striking hesitation among the same voters about Obama.
Then there’s the fact that we’re at war. As a Congressional staffer put it, “Here’s something to consider: Although Hillary will be out in May, she may determine the outcome in November. McCain’s secret weapon — among Clinton supporters — may be Hillary’s 3 a.m. national security ad.”
And an experienced Democratic operative e-mailed: “Finally, I think [McCain’s] going to win. Obama isn’t growing in stature. Once I thought he could be Jimmy Carter, but now he reminds me more of Michael Dukakis with the flag lapel thing and defending Wright. Plus he doesn’t have a clue how to talk to the middle class. He’s in the Stevenson reform mold out of Illinois, with a dash of Harvard disease thrown in.”
In a close race, that “dash of Harvard disease” could be the difference.
Yeah. The flag lapel thing is still burning up the headlines, Bill. Who's this "Democratic operative"? Mark Penn? Joe Lieberman? Zell Miller?
We based the title of this post on the simpering squishface's stellar record on predicting things. This one from March 5, 2003 (many more at the link) says it all.

"I think we'll be vindicated when we discover the weapons of mass destruction and when we liberate the people of Iraq."
Nader wins. Nader wins.

It's always so enlightening to hear what people like Kristol and David Brooks have to say about Democrats.

As a Democrat, I am fully expecting a McCain landslide too. Here's why:
1. The media loves them some McCain. They hates them some Democrats. End of story.
2. Diebold still controls the voting machines.
3. The country is still fundamentally a sexist, racist hate machine. It's a win/win for McCain. Just watch the Willie Horton/PMS ads start flying once the GOP knows who they're running against. It will be ugly. And they will win.

The GOP actually got their best general election candidate in McCain BUUUUT they'll still lose. ALL the Dems, Hillary or Obama need to do, is tie McCain to JR and watch him sink. THAT ALONE WILL SEND HIM TO THE ABYSS!
