Sarah Palin: Now A Fictional Character
This is an amazing development. Sit down before proceeding.
It's finally happening. This running mate of John McCain's will run from her record and become a pre-fabricated product of the McCain campaign. Some chilling stuff from the Anchorage Daily News:
GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is effectively turning over questions about her record as Alaska's governor to John McCain's political campaign, part of an ambitious Republican strategy to limit embarrassing disclosures and carefully shape her image for voters in the rest of the country.
Republican efforts include dispatching a former top U.S. terrorism prosecutor from New York, Ed O'Callaghan, to assist Palin's personal lawyer working to derail or delay a pending ethics investigation in Alaska. The investigation, known as Troopergate, is examining whether the governor abused her power by trying to remove her former brother-in-law as a state trooper.
O'Callaghan is just part of a cadre of high-powered operatives patrolling Alaska as reporters and Democrats scrutinize every detail of Palin's tenure in government, plus her family and friends. One strategy: Carefully coordinate any information that's released. The McCain campaign is demanding that it becomes the de facto source for answers about the operations of Alaska's government during the past 20 months.
Is it sinking in yet? The McCain lawyers are in Alaska attempting to erase the short history of Sarah Palin's political career (including the trooper scandal), completely rewrite it, and make THAT the official Sarah Palin story. THEY'RE DEMANDING IT.
This should send alarms and red lights to every political beat writer in this hemisphere. The dog is being wagged big time, and McCain's daring anyone to challenge it.
UPDATE: Mudflats has Alaska's reaction to this incredible developing story.

Looking at the republican's sucessful record of squelching investigations and the cowardly caving of democrats I'd say the Palin corruption inquiry will become a part of history very soon like next week maybe!

And you're basing that little pejorative piece of whining on WHAT, Lawton?
I don't know where that came from, but a 'tude check is in order. Get the hell out of 2004.

They haven't even been elected, and they are able to bypass laws, regulations and make their own rules! Here we go again! Another couple of rethugs who have no respect, no ethics, no decency!
